Maybe a Triumph Speed Triple, or a Triumph Tiger, would be a good recipient for that engine.

Heh! The next project will have a kubota z482 with a supercharger attached to it, that should make around 25bhp and still have very good fuel economy. Still trying to figure out

a), what donor bike to use
b) what donor gerarbox to use

The problem with the bigger engine conversions is those ultima gearboxes are UBER expensive over here (UK)

It runs on 90% veg oil and has twin tanks, so far I am getting around 150uk mpg, with a higher run netting 175 mpg!

Lots of information about the build process on

Its a project that I suspect will never end, and I have just started experimenting with different veg oil mixes, seems to be going ok! The engine makes about 9bhp, and has a top speed of 55mph. (enough for a road use!)

I also have an e320 CDI Mercedes, that I managed to get 62.1uk mph out of!
Amazing job done man. Creative and cool project. Congrats for good outcomes

Many talk about diesel bikes, you just built it

I guess I must have missed the thread originally ...

Maybe something smaller and lighter than a Tiger

A Bonneville or Kwak W650 frame maybe ?

The Suzuki TU125 and TU250 Volty were already light and very efficient as petrol bikes. 25 BHP might even be overkill one one of these

150 mpg UK is 124 mpg US
175 mpg UK is 145 mpg US

That's Vetter challenge material - if it were a bit faster

A supercharger would make the current bike faster, but at the expense of fuel economy I suspect Variable injection timing would really help, but to my knowledge, there arent any small diesel engines with variable timing (small being 400cc or less)

I think a tiger would work well if I went down the smart diesel engine route, (800cc with a turbo). A like the idea of using a smaller bike, as the 250 engine + gearbox I removed from the superdream was nearly 30% heavier than the diesel that went into it.

I wouldn't mind something a bit more modern looking that the bonneville or w650. I also dont mind doing some frame modifications to make it a bit bigger etc, thats not an issue either, its just finding a good frame with good brakes + suspension etc.
