I think so, as long as you got the details right. By details I mean how much expansion there is when the hatch opens. You'd have to fiddle with it after it is in place. Maybe a rubber/plastic of the right mil thickness, like pond liners and such. I have some I could use from a defunct roof-pond experiment back in the day.

But I'm just all talk right now, I haven't built anything.

i cut and heat bended my kammback yesterday. i still need to do the attachment bracket for the top hatch hinge. i have decided on making that seperatly and bolting + gluing the bracket to the kammback. apart from being supported from the top it will just be held down with tape at the sides etc.

things i learnt when making it was that the plexiglas snaps clean in one movement, so don't plan any complex curves or corners. also be careful with cutting the scoring. one wrong move can lead the break in the wrong direction. heat bending was easy but i didn't do as nice a job as tomo.

i was trying to work out which way the areo forces will act on this thing. if there is low pressure under the kammback and laminar flow over it, then hopefully the force would keep it in place?

i plan to make it removable - an assessory for when i do serious motorway miles.

today i tried to make a plexiglas attachment strip that would wedge under the hatch hinge and hold the kamm. it didn't work. the long strip was too big and bulky to fit under the hatch hinge.

instead i have been looking at picture frame mounting hooks.

i will bend strips of steel to form a hook at one end, like the picture fame mounting hooks. this will hook under the hatch hinge and the other end will bolt onto the kamm. for support i will mainly hang the kamm from the top hatch hinge but i will also have a couple of hooks at the sides preventing lateral movement.

Have any of you guys done a quick-and-dirty test of how much a kammback might help simply by leaving the hatch about half open, maybe filling the sides with cardboard? (And somehow preventing exhaust from getting sucked into the interior?)
