I have one car that I don't want --but need-- to sell, one that is running on three (out of four) cylinders; and I'm getting an electric.
Maybe someday I'll get a gas generator.

That will have to do for now.
The people who contacted me will hate me for saying this, but do NB that your mechanic knows or will know of someone looking to rebuild an old, smokey, high mileage or neglected oil service engine...
In the meantime you might get a bag of BA at a chemist to play with.
Get some powder on your fingers and things.
Just remembered I have a small engine so I'll work on a Geet of sorts for a start and see if i can devise some sort of dyno.
Hell; even a std spark plug (resistor removed) and a capacitor will pass for a small MIT Plasmatron to mess about with with small engines. Hmmm!
Then there's that vesper scooter pusher trailer to consider!
Are you really keen on the simple, constant rpm, constant load, wireless control?
I NB that any ~5 to 10hp engine, a wheel, a centrifugal or electric clutch, and some tubing should be a start.
One can add a suspension shock/spring after initial testing.
Do you have more than a star screwdriver in your toolkit?
