I'm wondering do many of these SUVs really get what they claim ? Many of the newer minivans (which are not so mini anymore) are barely doing 13-15 in the hands of a average driver.

Race, collect, and build :

They are all 1:32 scale. All the cars in the back-row are home made. The fire truck won't win any races but it was a fun/joke to make.

I don't have my own track, and there really aren't any commercial ones nearby. However, most of the racing is at a friend's house. He's got two 4'x8' tables arranged in an "L" shape in his garage, so his track is fantastic.

Collect and repair. Haven't set up a track in along time. Have about dozen and a half all HO scale, mostly Aurora and Tyco ( Tjets and AFX). There sure are not many commercial tracks, I think the closest one to me is about 6 hrs away but the still have competitions.

This one is maybe an hour+ away but it is the ÜBER HARD CORE 1:24 scale crowd :

Buena Park Raceway

They are on a completely different planet from me.

Hopefully if Mrs A goes part time we will get a dog, and if we do a Collie it will be...

Note though that Collies and Border Collies are two quite different breeds.

Collies are the Lassie-type dogs, quite large, typically long coats in light brown to tannish with white patches, and long pointed nose. Border collies run quite a bit smaller, are stereotypically black & white with a white stripe on the nose. Both tend to need a lot of activity...

You are correct, my Collie of choice will be of the Border variety, as Max - the one I was tapping about is. We had one when I was young, "bearskin" - i.e. short haired.

Unfortunately breeding of collies (the other kind) for show means they have heads which can be too small so they have problems with behaviour and fits - neighbours when I was a child had a couple which were both 'odd' like this.

Otherwise they are nice dogs too.

Labradors and Golden Retrievers are nice and lazy...

Don't get me started on show dogs & show dog breeders. It's why I prefer mutts. Not that I ever have much choice: my dogs have almost always been of that special breed, the Honestitsjustforaweekortwo Hound, plus the occasional Dumphimoutinthecountry Dog.
