E85 prices.

Since E85(still E70-E75 in some places) prices are starting to get close to parity with Gasoline across the midwest. I'm curious how many people here are running E85 in their FFVs(factory or converted) and how much loss % they are seeing from the Ethanol blends.

Hardly worth bothering with anymore.
I stopped over a year ago.

The prices were really high up until the harvest is why, Ethanol was trading for almost as much as Gasoline!

What kind of loss were you getting?

I'm sorry but I meant what were you getting on Gasoline and what did you get on E85?

Here the price of E85 use to be almost 1 dollar cheaper.
On regular gasoline I got between 45 and 50mpg.
On E85 I got from 38 to 42 miles per gallon.

About 16% loss, not bad.

The spreads here are less than 50 cents, about 12% cheaper. There are some decent spreads up towards Louisville though.

I had it mathematically figured that E85 needed to be somewhere about 60 cents cheaper for it to be economical for me to use.
Now it stands to reason that there are going to be some vehicles that will do worse and some that will do better.
I also have a 1998 Toyota Sienna but have not tried it on this vehicle.

This is my first blend of anything stronger then E10. The price spread here in Aurora is 21% cheaper for E85. I havn't figured out my mileage yet but I'm sure I'll beat the spread to make it "worth it".

I've been using E85 for a few years in 2 FFV, they(gas station or E producers) price it to match energy at best IMO almost never better & it irritates me. Last station I drove by today had 3.86 E0, 3.00 E85(e70?) (22% cheaper, 28% less energy content). In Stratus blends run almost prefectly per energy balance, just not worth the effort to put E85 in as it doesn't save me anything per mile. I tell my wife if it's 20-25% less range to use E85 in the Impala(or Suburan before it) but some how it's almost always empty when I get into it.

The suburban(2002 suburban on fuelly) beat the energy balance, not enough data on the Impala yet.
