I've already seen some people trying to use the residual heat from a fridge to heat water for the shower.

Well it's 7F outside this morning and the air going into the furnace is not that cold, I was expecting frost on the intake. Either the air in the attic, next to the flue, is warm or it is warming up in the the insulated intake tube. I have an aluminum tube tapped right onto the exhaust flue in the attic, Id guess you'd call it regeneration.
