Eco- Headlamp bulbs?! anyone tried these?

Been looking for some bulbs to upgrade the candles on the 328i, and stumbled on these Philips bulbs.. what do we think? Has anyone used them?

Interesting- do you have a link to the blog?

I'm probably going to be purchasing them this week- Failing that, the Osram night- breakers get a good name.

first and foremost is improving light output, then if I can get a reduction in consumption that'd be a bonus!

I measured current draw for the Sylvania ECO HB2 bulbs I put in my Civic.
Sylvania 9003/HB2/H4 EB EcoBright Headlight Bulb (Low/High Beam), (Pack of 2) : Amazon.com : Automotive

Funny, I don't seem to have written it down, but I remember thinking, "so it's actually 25% lower power than stock."

BUT, that was only for the low beam. For high beam, they were exactly the same.

I wish I could put HID or LED in there for some much larger power draw reduction, but alas, headlamp reflectors are designed for a very specific source geometry, as of now there isn't a way I know of to make the swap without changing the entire assembly.

The ECO headlamps still rank as the cheapest way to knock out ~20W, although I find swapping headlamps to be a surprising PITA. I'm still trying to find good LED's for the tail-lamps, so far I've had no luck finding 1157 LED bulbs that actually work in the Civic's sockets, at least not under $10/pair.

First Philips themselves say only 15% energy savings.

It appears that since they are 10% brighter than other bulbs at the same wattage, they produce more lumens per watt. I did some math... but it's probably wrong.

Wow looks like yall jumped way past my interjection. I was just searching by the name and mfg and it popped up the rating or approval could have been in amazon .com?
I did need to open about 7 pages to be satisfied with tech info gathered.
Sorry not much 4 ya to go on, ill start posting this kinda stuff from now on.

Hmmm the same rating as a standard bulb.
There are a few DOT approved passanger vehicle LED replacement head lamps. (I know of 1)
