Incidentally, I have the same rack problem as you. The solution?

Old Man Mountain racks mount through the QR skewer, so you can put them on any bike that has a quick release axle! It's a pain to take the wheels off, but the utility of the racks more than makes up for it.

Good luck! But I think they're worth the price if you can swing it.

I used to do 11 miles one way. I looked at how many miles I'd ride in a few hours Mountain Biking. Then realized 11 miles is less than half that. Tried it on a Saturday. Started doing it as much as 3 times a week.

Later, I would ride to work, ride to MTB trails in the same day. I would rack up 50+ miles those days. To be able to do that again...

It's possible is my point, and then some. Work your way up to it. Take the truck with the bike. Ride the bike home, then ride in. Take the truck home. Now you only do the miles on the bike once per day and cut your truck miles in half!

Uh ... mounting these on the axles is very much a standard set-up

Maybe look at the Dutch solutions
and search for fiets + transportrek
fiets transportrek - Google zoeken

or fiets + bagagerek
