Ecomotor for the ecomodder?

Technology | EcoMotors

Opposed piston boxer. Variable displacement. Electric turbocharger. Bill Gates money.

It sounds rough, but that could be the microphone and the room acoustics.

The Wikipedia entry:
EcoMotors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

EDIT: I guess it's been discussed before:

I've closed all those tabs.
There is a pretty good walkthrough here.

It has long skinny doubled-up connecting rods that always run in tension, and he claims no phugoidal vibrations in the crank. The problem he admits to is oiling the rings and cooling outer pistons.

But I've moved on ... to opposed piston linear electric generators.

I have once seen a Commer truck with a similar engine in Uruguay.

Uruguay again? Isn't that like the Colorado of South America, with a President who drives an Old Beetle?

Commer TS3 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:
It was unusual in being an opposed piston engine where each horizontal cylinder contains two pistons, one at each end, that move in opposition to each other.[5] Even more unusually, both sets of pistons drove only a single crankshaft; most opposed piston engines have a separate crankshaft at each end of the cylinder. The TS3 engine used a single crankshaft beneath the cylinders, each piston driving it through a connecting rod, a rocker lever and a second connecting rod. The crankshaft had six crankpins and there were six rockers.

Yes, their president drives an old Beetle and lives in a small ranch. But I don't believe he would be elected for a second term, after the Diesel ban. Also, the liberation of marijuana has not been so widely supported by the average Uruguayans.

Well, I hope they've got the Presidential Palace rented out as a bed-and-breakfast.

Buildings get run down when they're vacant.

Jimmy Carter wasn't reelected either; but he's still a nice guy — for an ex-nuclear sub skipper, that is.

Carter was never a skipper, he was only active duty for 6 years when you take out the college time. His highest rank was lieutenant. Thankfully they don't give nuclear sub commands to people of so little experience although he was set to be reactor officer when he quit.
