I am trying to build and EV truck. Just getting started and i am kinda n00b at all this stuff... where should i start on what kind of engine i should use? i dont want crazy speed, target is 40mph. and i want it to be as cheep as possible, maybe something from another divice....

There are some great books out there on building EV's, I recommend getting as many of them as you can afford as they will be only a small part of your investment.
What kind of budget do you have? the less you know the more you will end up spending.

Great idea on the books. i will start to look today. I want to spend around $3000 kinda my target price but i am willing to spent more if i have to but would like to spend less.

i am thinking i should go with a small truck. Like a chevy S10 or something like that.
any sudjestions on were i can get some batteries as well.

After looking at a few websites, I found there are certain models of trucks (and cars) that
are favorites for EV conversion.
EV kits are already on the shelf for those easy-to-convert models, with the transmission-motor adapter plates all machined and ready to bolt on.

A buddy of mine converted a small Japanese made truck about 12 years ago and he
had to make a lot of the parts himself. The big aluminum adapter plate was handmade.
Things are getting better nowadays!

you should be able to get by with spending $3,000 on a motor and adapter plate if you know wha you are looking for, not sure how much is going to be left over of that to spend on wire, controller, batteries, custom mounts, and other dodads although there are people who can do it for very little they have gret skill.
