Electric Motorcycle Team Likes Cougar Controller!
Hey guys,
I just got an e-mail from a friend of mine. In it, he says "have you heard of these guys?" and included part of an e-mail he received from a member of another forum that he is on.
I'll share with you just the interesting bits.
I represent a Electric Superbike Racing team from India named "Tork India".....
....We had faced problem with controllers this year so thought of developing on my own......
.....I have some design in mind similar to one in the following link
Welcome to PaulandSabrinasEVstuff.com
That's right, Third Place winners at the Isle of Man EV Motorcycle race know of the ReVolt and LIKE it!
Who knows, someday, maybe a variation of this controller will be winning race competitions!

They were emailing me about getting a prototype. Then they wanted to do some testing, and then let me know some possible modification that I could make for them. The trouble is, the Indian government charges people 102% of the cost of a product just so they can get it. So, a $600 controller kit would cost them about $1300 including shipping. I'd make it for free, but I can't afford the parts for one. So, the loose plan at this point is to make them some basic stuff like a power board. Then they can drill their own heavy metal parts that take me forever to do, using the etched board to locate all the necessary holes. They really should be talking to Jack Bauer about all this. I think some big dang igbts would work better in racing conditions anyway.

Hi Dreamweaver! It's current controlled by default, but is reprogrammable to be anything in the continuum from current controlled to voltage controlled. It uses a LEM Hass current sensor for current feedback, hardware overcurrent protection (not connected with the microcontroller at all), and it uses a PI loop for keeping current proportional to throttle position.

Gotta love a forum where people like this hang out.
Maybe Elon Musk will stop by sometime as well.

Hi Paul,
I searched for the parts that will be needed for the controller, most of them are easily available over here. Now I just need the control board and the power board so that i can buy the parts and then start working. Also it will be possible for me to program the Atmega168 over here.
Can you just tell me how much does it cost for the boards.
Eagerly waiting to get my hands on soldering everything n start testing.
Regards,
Nishant

Hello! Well, the control board is 0, and the power board (that I just made today just for you guys!) is 0! But I don't know what shipping is. I'll ask Sabrina to figure out shipping. That way, when India asks you to pay 102% of the value, you can say that it is worthless junk! $0! haha! I'm just so sneaky sometimes, I can barely stand it!
