It's not the best idea to cut the fuel before injector pump. It will force pump to run dry before engine will die.

I just have an idea... What about a very strong magnet on the top of solenoid? Then some kind of device that will move it up and down to open and close valve.
You may try to put a magnet over solenoid then disconnect cable and see if the engine will die or not.

Just a thought but that can actually may work IMHO.

If you defeat the solenoid, how will you shut the engine off? That question must be answered first.

An upstream valve will starve the pump and not shut off well. You would have to re-design the pump solenoid to shut off on the application of power, like with a push button, so once the engine is off, you can release it to not draw on your battery.

Seems like a lot of work to save less than 30 watts. Defeat your daytime headlights and save more than that.
