Elon Musk/Tesla goes on another fire/crisis mode

Another Tesla en fuego en Merida, Mexico. A driver, who was allegedly under the influence and fled the scene, lost control of a Tesla around a glorieta and struck a few walls before finally crashing into a tree.

Dang! The driver was able to flee the scene after a crash like this?

Looks like the whole front end is pretty much gone...

Impressive...

If you damage the battery pack to the point it can no longer contain the energy to take it 300 miles away - this is the only conclusion.
I witnessed some gasoline powered cars go up in flames. None went as gently as this. I was 50 feet away when a gas tank on one of them exploded amogst a large group of spectators. I was happy I was not at 40 feet like some. Several people got injured that day.

My brother had his old Ford LTD start on fire while driving down the street without hitting anything, having to smash in to a wall and rip half the car off before it starts on fire... and after the driver was in good enough shape not to just walk away but was in good enough shape to flee!

I don't think the Astro van discussed in this thread hit anything before catching fire either... http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ode-27347.html. However, after catching on fire, while the occupants were flailing about (due to injuries) it ran into something...

all this talk making it sound like it erupted into a fireball the instant it crashed, but you can clearly see a police car there, so this video was many minutes after the crash. enough time for anyone to get out of the car and stumble away.
