Great stuff! I think it would be interesting to see gasser/diesel/hybrid splits where the data is available.

can you list which make/models are diesel and hybrid? Using regular expression search of the vehicle descriptions only show 8 entries for diesel and 75 for hybrid.

Here is what I have based on current descriptions

...if we had vehicle "weights" it'd be interesting to "see" the MPG-vs.-WT comparisons, which would bring the motorcycle people down closer to the rest of us.

Great charts! How are you mining the data?

Gotta feel sorry for all the diesel VW TDIs and Mercedees 500Ds when some dumb guy puts a honkin 1 ton in the mix and ruins the numbers.
Probably the same dumb @$$ that has the 14MPG EPA vehicle too.

I'm using the free and open source statistical computing software called R. I am an Engineer/Statistician/Operations Research specialist by trade. If you are curious more about R and data mining analytics you can check out a couple of my sites.

IEOR Tools Online Store. I have a category dedicated to R programming there.

Also my IEOR Tools blog where I frequently talk about R and other analytics.

If anyone is curious about getting started with R I strongly suggest looking at one of my posts on beginner R.

That is a great idea. I'm still working on getting the detailed garage data.

Sorry, I probably didn't use the right term (I'm definitely not a statistics expert)... What I meant is how do you retrieve the data from the Garage? I can't imagine that you manually download the data for every vehicle in the garage in order to plug into the statistics program...

Appreciate the link to the statistics program R though... I think it has to have a 'www' as part of the link however.

Have you tried other phrases / acronyms such as TDI, HDI, IMA etc etc ? Of course the list could become longer than the list of cars

Thanks for the link to beginning R, been looking to get into this for a while.
