I posted about a guy from BBC Radio 4 doing a drive round Europe in an Electric car here :

Which attracted no interest at all The same guy has restored/just started a radio series about restoring an electric car Pioneer - the Enfield Thunderbolt :

Earlier this year Nissan began production in Sunderland of the Leaf, the first electric car to be mass-produced in the UK. But 40 years ago, about 100 electric cars were built on the Isle of Wight to a design that was years ahead of its time.

There is a lot more on the history of the Enfield here too.



The program was pretty good, including interviews with loads of people involved. Although the Beeb limits access to the UK there are loads of tutorials online about how to listen to download these programs.

Looks rather like a slightly "classier" version of a Golf Cart.

I have a download of program 1 not sure about posting it though - the beeb has issues with downloading but offers downloads itself...

Nothing much has changed it seems.
They still take hours to charge and cost two cars ...

And like Tesla it involves a mysterious genius who is in charge but nobody really knows what is going on.
