I'm curious how a cloud can hover over a state for years despite weather patterns, while Chinese air pollution can reach California and other western US states?

The article implies it's being continuously fed/replenished by oil & gas producers. Otherwise you'd expect it to go away, of course. And I bet sometimes it does.

Sounds like a free source of heat energy that could be recovered for power generation or other uses like the methane from cattle farms is used to power the farm it self. Also methane recovered from garbage piles.

Four Corners is the largest & most productive basin of coalbed methane.

Anomalous natural and man-made...fart. Atmospheric methane concentrations equivalent to about 1.3 million pounds of emissions a year. Across-the-board fossil fuel extraction aggravated an existing natural condition.
