I never thought it was pure unicorn.
That thing looks astronomically expensive and we already know the benefits of a belt driven alt delete.
Put those 2 together and I dont think you will come out ahead.

Not to get off topic, but doesn't KERS store energy in a flywheel? Looking at the diagrams, ERS looks more like a battery... I wasn't aware of any batteries that could handle that extreme charge/discharge rate. Is it a battery, or still a flywheel?

The KERS is no longer used and has been replaced by the new MGUK.

Here's another car using a turbine recovery system.
The Porsche 919 Hybrid.


This unit is a GUH Generator Unit Heat, not like the MGUH Motor Generator Unit Heat F1 uses now.

Interesting. A little more digging shows a battery of 35 kg (77 lbs). I wonder what battery chemistry they're using...

From my understanding they're using lithium-ion cells. There's not a whole lot of information about them though? lol
