Another Project vehicle - Ford Ranger

This one really needs work... lots of body work, but it's really a project vehicle that I intend to take my time on when I get bored with other stuff. I'm going to do a frame-off restomod, including solid bedsides (no wheel covers, just straight sides), air suspension, some lightening, etc.

Oh... I forgot to mention something about this truck:

It's getting this:

OM616 from a low-mile 240D (80,000 miles on it when the motor and 4 speed trans was pulled).

I slapped a streamlining template on a 2007 Ford Ranger, in views #4 and 5, at the bottom right.

An aerocap, following the lines of the template in view #4, would provide a nice reduction in trailing wake. But that's nothing compared to what you'd get from teardropping the bedrails, like in view #5.

What's that? You want to load wide objects through the tailgate, and fit the wheels inside the body? Pff. I'm sure you'll figure something out.

I had an '86 with the 2.3L and 5-speed, and averaged 24 mpg without any hypermiling. A diesel will be killer.

Looking forward to seeing how it fits.

So, I stumbled in on a "college kid needs to pay bills" deal:

$250, completely clean cab, came with rust repair panels to fix the pass side box, good tires on it, runs and drives, but has some quirks.

This is the new candidate for the OM616 diesel swap, the other Ranger that was pictured before will likely get sold or parted out/junked to cover expenses.

The same mods apply, though. Slabbed bedsides, lowering, air suspension, etc.
