Yes, Tesla has changed the EV world forever. But styling-wise they look a bit like a Jaguar, if you squint an eye.

Now, finally, there is a 90 kWh ~240 mile real range EV that does not look like a Jaguar.


Because it IS a Jaguar! Behold the Jaguar i-Pace...

The production model basically matches the specs Jaguar originally set out to achieve with the I-Pace concept. A 90 kWh battery will give it an estimated 240 miles of range, which is more than enough for day-to-day driving. If and when you wind up running low on charge, Jaguar says the batteries can go from zero to 80 percent in just 40 minutes at 100kW DC fast charging stations. (A similar charge on a Level 2 home charger will take about 10 hours, according to Jaguar.)

With regards to performance, the dual motors — one on each axel — combine to give the I-Pace 394 horsepower, which gets it from 0–60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds, Jaguar says.

Interesting. Makes me wonder if the tradition of Jaguar is likely to captivate a considerable amount of the public from Tesla.

But anyway, considering vehicles that don't "look like a Jaguar", I would've been more inclined to believe that Volvo could come earlier with a full-electric version of the XC60.

Anyways, similar shape yes; but the surface development is busy, the front end is very Asian-oriented and the trim around the DLO less similar.

The project involved a $999 after-market kit called “Comma One” that was capable of adding semi-autonomous capabilities to Honda Civics and some Acura cars. I don't see the Accord on that short list. This suggests there is more involved than the motor.

It is only natural that if you use clean, simple, flowing lines you'll end up with a design that resembles the designs of other companies that have the same philosophy.

An other example. Window trim completely surrounds the DLO.

It comes down to a battle of the body creases and corrugations for brand recognition.

Trouble is, these days Jaguars don't look like Jaguars.
