Finally a website with good information

Hello all, I have been a lurker here for a few weeks and decided to join so I can see the awesome progress pics of peoples aeromods on their pick-up trucks.

I have a nissan frontier getting about 25-26mpg. I really want to get 30mpg. I have the tires up to 40psi, got the scangauge II, getting ready to do a full tune-up. Any other quick suggestions?

I plan to experiment in the future with a partial bed cover and a spoiler/wing on the back of the cab.

Welcome to the site. Definitly look at the 100+ hypermiling tips if you haven't already. Also, I would start looking at how to get a grill block on that vehicle. Good luck and keep us updated.

Sorry to disappoint, It doesn't have a meaning. It's just the green stuff that goes on my sushi.

Howdy wasabi!

To add to what everyone else said, just remember the 4 things that go into FE:

> driving style
> aerodynamics
> tires
> weight

what really helps me is
eoc
p & G
slow acceleration
parking on hills (this allows me to get into motion with no gas and down through a few stopsigns. (stopping of course)

got no aero mods (yet.)

These four are good; I might add : > Keep your speed down ... 50ish is better than 60ish! Actually, ~47 MPH is the upper limit ( before parasitic / ram air drag begins to take hold). Check classic pitot theory for more details....
Aerodynamics doesn't include pitot theory ; all cars ... dirty, clean, square, pointy, long, short ... have to penetrate the same air. Velocity rules! Aero is disturbance...pitot is penetration.

I tried to get a jump on improving the milage on my 04 Frontier extgended cab by adding a gadget called Mileage Monster Hydrogen system. Cost a little under $700 installed. The net effect after 1395 miles appears to be pretty much negative. My recommendation is that you not waste your money.

I also have a Scan Guage II. Its readings seem to change more rapidly than I can compensate. Does anyone have any ideas for smoothing that might eliminate the rapid changes? I also would like to hear any ideas for improving the bricklike design that I have to deal with.
