i have seen 2 versions from youtube in drive design.
1. direct motor to tire via chain.
2. removing jugs and attatching electric motor to the tranny via a belt.
im still in debate on whitch will be better.
i think that i might can achive better speed to leave the tranny and gears but
difficult to deternine the extra drain it might cause on batteries.
also if i go with direct drive and remove the tranny im wanting to go belt drive instead of chain.
being in florida im also looking into the possibilities of adding some solar pannels as a offset of charging the batteries but not the primary charging method.i think it would help the batteries and could concievably do a charge in a few days without a plugin.
as a IT tech, welder & a electrician i dont see to manny issues with any modds i might need to do but researching batteries i see i need thick plate deep cycle batteries not just golf cart like i was planning to do.
I had also thoght of alt source of cheap lithium batteries imagine stacking a lot of dewalt 18v batteries.I see them everywhere i go .. yard sales .. flea markets .. if 40 to 50 are stacked accordingly this might make a alternative to the heavy batteries and also conserve space. plz post replys on these thoughts ty
ps. anyone use irc chat or other chat programs to discuss these topics outside of board.
I just got a electric golf cart + charger for $125
going on trip to go get my 83 ascot 500 when i get back
i will hunt down a titled frame in the 250cc range like a rebel or nighthawk
to move guts to.
from a car dealer. it was from friends telling me about it.
have a father in law that has claimed all the aluminum that would counter the cost.
but i expect to break even with the charger alone.. im not gonna use it so he will sell it for me and ill use that $$ to sub off the cost of titled frame from junkyard.
motor, controller & ev throttle all check out good.
being in a state with so manny golf courses i plan on getting used batteries
for next to nothing from course workers if i dont get them from junk yard.
...... oh the golf cart is prolly from the 70's or early 80's i will upload pics when i get
back into town .. the controller looks like a rack of selenoids .
im back from my road trip to get my other bike.
inlaws have apparently saved me a lot of stripping time as they gutted the golf cart for the aluminum.
here are the guts i will use on my ev bike.
