Now I've got visions of Uncle Trump posters saying "I want YOU to NOT buy a Fusion!"
|
Now see what you've started?
I went to the Mac User's Group meeting and they were grousing about the bill that passed the Senate that is in their [ideological] favor. Really, really sour grapes.
I suggested to them that persuasion is more important than facts (S. Adams) and they should not let their persuasion outrun the facts. IOW chillax.
Let Ford do what Ford gonna do.

I knew ford was gonna stop making cars after killing the crown vic off. That was the last decent car they made IMO. You can get a 2011 vic for $2000 around here and it will probably last you 20+ years.

Consumers can not be blamed for not buying what sellers do not offer for sale.

It turns out that police departments are purchasing SUVs instead of sedans, too. I found an article stating that their modified Explorer, using a Taurus chassis, was 75% of their sales.

We have mostly RWD Hemi Chargers here state and local, even the university police drive them. There are a few Taurus cars and Explorer SUVs (they are both labeled "Interceptors". They are usually AWD turbo versions around here. A couple Suburbans and F250's as well. I would say it is still 80% cars though.

I happened to drive by the university police building yesterday. They used to drive exclusively Chargers (and one Ram); now, their lot is entirely Interceptor SUVs. The city police departments use some Interceptor sedans, but have gone mainly SUV as well.

My local PD maintains a Charger or two as pursuit cars, but they are mostly Explorers. Sergeants get Tahoes.

I'd be lying if I said Panther Fords weren't on my shopping list. An '11 Town Car would be awesome. It's one of the few cars which make me not care that it's automatic trans.

It actually makes some sense. Well, I guess it wouldn't be too hard to fit VSC and other tech to the Crown Vic, since it's already available in trucks that rely on a similar body-on-frame setup. And considering that a Ranger was cheaper than a Fiesta in 2011, it wouldn't surprise me to see the upcoming US-spec variants of the current overseas Ranger also being price-competitive there.
