They donated a few to universities and museums on the basis that they were disabled. One museum has a project to reactivate and improve one - so its not running original specification. Others seem to have been 'hidden'.

I doubt GM would bother persuing a university to reclaim a project car or indeed an individual for keeping one after so long and with the adverse publicity, especially after having so much tax money thrown at them.

Plus of course if they return to EVs the EV-1s surviving would make excellent advertisement vehicles.

We never got them here so I've never seen on in the plastic, so I'm not sure they ever existed

yea there likely just fine, as long as they don't try and register and put tags on it.
i think in that case, GM would do something. since it was put in the agreement that it would never be used on road ever.

s'ok, GM wasted tons of time and money on it and crushed them, and then made a gas car called the volt. Nissan wants my money, GM is too big to live sorry to say.

So it sounds like a large percentage of the EV-1 are still out there, after all GM only made 1,100 of them, so 1% of them could still be around, in private collections, at universities and so on.

At least here, if a school of any sort has a vehicle that is being used as an educational tool, there are some loop holes written in to the law saying that they can use it on the road within I think 5 miles of the school for research and education without having it licensed or titled.
