Fuel log display in L/100km
I only just realized that I can now start my own thread and remembered an ongoing question I have had.
Is there interest in tweaking/improving the setup of the fuel log portion of the Garage so that it can display the graph and summary information in L/100km or whatever other values are most desired by the user and can be viewed in whatever units are set by the viewer as their default display units?
I mention this because I see that the display graph is in mpg where I have heard reasons indicating that L/100km is a more useful fuel efficiency unit. It also is the unit used / displayed by vehicles in Canada.
Just a thought and wondering if there are others who have had the same thought.
After almost a year of using L/100km I still revert to mpg in my thinking at times, but if I used it exclusively, I think the transition would be complete much quicker, like learning a language by being immersed in it completely.
Just a thought and wondering if there are others who have had the same thought.

I've been trying to get them to put a slide bar on the fuel logs for years, they say the codes are too hard to write.
If the fuel logs only showed say 40 or 50 logs at a time and you could scroll left or right to show more then the bars wouldn't get so thin that that all start running together and you cant see the MPG number in them anymore. Would make everything alot better for people who have alot of logs.
I have one car log at 52 fillups you can still see the numbers in the bar, and one car at 69, bars so small the number are gone

I'd gladly see the graph read in L/100km.
US MPG is gibberish to me, it's just numbers.
I'm old enough to have used Imperial MPG when I first started driving, but Australia went metric in the mid '70s, more than enough time for even my mind to adjust.

My Insight does show l/100 km, and I wish it didn't.
As it shows only 1 digit beyond the point, and it becomes less precise with better FE. When the number gets lower that feels like an accomplishment, but even per trip I have to wait so long to see 4.1 go down to 4.0... That is a 2.5% difference. It's just frustrating. It should have 2 digits beyond the point when it has only 1 ahead.
If it did MPGs with one digit beyond the point the steps would be less than 0.2 % when beyond 50.0 mpg...
Nevertheless I'm happy with my indicated average of 4.1 l/100 km since the last fill (3 2-way commutes and a shopping at about freezing temps, total of 225 km) Car and steering wheel nut are improving rapidly

A couple weird suggestions that may or may not have merit.
A simple solution to lack of decimal points, add more so that you get back to 3 significant figures. Most drivers don't have this problem because they are happy with 10+ L/100km!
Or an even better one: lets switch to mL/km with one decimal point. Then your 4.0L/100km becomes 40.0mL/km solving the significant figures aspect as well as providing a more user friendly ratio.
What do you think?
Cheers,
benphyr.
p.s. If I could get even close to 4L/100km without a significant downhill slope I would be thrilled, winter has me riding at about 7s! Well done.!

The Europe continental version of the Insight comes with fixed readout style; though the manual shows how to swap it, that option is not there in the actual car's MID menu
Sure, I'm happy with 4.0 l/100 km doing 90 km/h following trucks (lorrys? rigs?) but I'd still like to improve. I'm combing for lice here, not elephants...
Think it is time to get me a Scangauge or Ultragauge.

I would use L/100 if it was an option, but I'm okay with the way it is. Giving us the option to enter the data in L/100 has been great. That was more of an issue for me than the bar graph.
