you have to remember that in 1992, oil was not where it is today.
Are you using the same grade, type and quality of oil you used in 1992?
no.

Even with the best synthetic oil, I wouldn't go more than a year without changing it, as oil will oxidize, even if you're not putting on lots of miles.
I'd be surprised if any car's manual recommends you go more than a year without an oil change.

Pretty sure nobody here has an Owner's Manual that specifies 3000 mile change intervals for normal usage. That makes your Owner's Manuals quite odd, don't you think?

I don't care what you think. Change your oil as often as you want, or don't change it. Push it to the maximum to save a little money.
Treat your motors any way you want.
I like my results just fine.

Believe it or not, fuel injectors do get clogged. The least you can do is use a high quality gasoline that has detergent added.
Also, the reason for fuel additives is mainly to overcome the detrimental effects of ethanol which is added to gasoline, (10% where I live).
I won't go into greater detail right now, but you can do the research yourself.

As noted, I have done the research. You haven't.
