Gas Mileage Down with the COLD---WAI?

I've noticed now that it is winter and temps are getting below freezing that my MPG's are taking a serious hit the first 5 or so minutes. Since my typical commute to work is only 8-10 minutes it's killing me! I'm thinking about swapping out my old filter for a Short RAM Warm Air Intake---will this help, even if it's just a bit? Any other ideas---synthetic oil? What weight?

I'd definitely suggest synthetic, in the engine and transmission. I've been running synthetic engine oil for a while, but I changed over to synthetic last winter and the car noticeably would coast farther when cold.

As for the intake, I'd just grab some of that flexible metal ducting for your dryer and route your intake over to your exhaust. Its quick, easy, cheap, and you can stick with your stock plumbing and filter.
