sorry otb, but putting ONE gallon in your tank and claiming 52mpg is a bit of a stretch. Many nuances to refilling consistently. I'm glad you are tracking though, really you need some sort of instrumentation though, (and well controlled A-B-A testing even better) and a solid description of the test conditions so that someone else will
A. have good reason to believe the results
B. Want to try the modification being tested

I appreciate that it is a lot of work though, and I too am just as likely to just slap the occasional thing on and hope. Just please do not give too much credit to any one mod without going through the effort of eliminating other variables.

I was working on similar project last week, it failed, not the mpg, but the way I got to heat up my fuel didn't work too well, but I think you're on the right track. I'll start my own project thread pretty soon, so far I've done 3 things, 2 worked, 1 not so good. Oh one more thing, heating up fuel on a fuel system that has a return line is not a good idea, because you'll be getting hot fuel back in the tank which is 1 will expand, causing your evap system to dump some of the fuel out ( you'll be loosing mpg), second the hot fuel will evaporate faster ( which is what we want, just not in the tank, once again you'll be loosing gas through evap system), and third of all like somebody said, hot gas is more ignitable, so might not be a good idea safety wise, almost forgot, 4th reason it's not a good idea is because electric fuel pumps use cold fuel as coolant to take the heat away from the pump. I am lucky, because I have a returnless fuel system on my car, all the gas stays in the line, and once it's pumped out of the tank it never goes back. So please be carefull.

50 years from now, if there is any gas left, some doof will be building a heat exchanger for it as if it has never been done before.

The fuel system is a no return system. I would have still tried it with a return system I just would have run it with half a tank or less for expansion. I have multiple experiments going on with fuel at the same time. And as long as I see increases in MPG I will keep at it. When it all levels out and I can't get anymore MPG I will start testing individual systems. Right now they are all working together and I have gains in MPG. This is a lot of fun for me and of course the benefit of saving ga$$$ and building, bullet proof systems.

LOL, I'm not even sure what that is supposed to mean in this context, but I'm sure Frank would not mind testing how resistant that system is to bullets

I'm just wondering about that comma... Damn, I'm a grammar Nazi.
