Geo Jeff: Who's heard of him.

As of late, I've been going around different gas saver forums, to see if anyone has heard of Geo Jeff, owner of Jeff's Geo Metros, located in Marysville WA. In short, I'm trying to find people who've had work done by him to see what their experience was like.

While I was on Youtube, I'd recently stumbled upon a video by a guy who calls himself "Geo Jeff", who claims to have figured out a way to rebuild a base model Geo Metro engine, so that it is not only provides as much fuel efficiency as an XFI engine; but will also provide 10 more horsepower.

You can also find his website at Jeffsgeometor.com, where he sells complete re-manufactured engines for $1600, $400 for an engine block and cam plus cylinder head for $375.

By all accounts, is this too good to be true, or worth looking into?
Thank you.

go to geometroforum.com and join the forum. They'll tell you all you need to know and who to trust and not to trust. I know the cylinder heads from 3tech have a good reputation over there. Ask about Geo Jeff. I'm sure they'll let you know.

I haven't heard of the guy, but if you rebuilt a standard metro engine as an XFI engine and blue printed the engine along with balancing it I'm sure you could get an extra few HP out of it, the XFI after all only had two piston rings instead of 3 and when the XFI was new 0w20 oil wasn't around.

Thanks for the quick response. I must say that the one thing that had intrigued me about his video, is that he claims to have CNC process for his cylinder heads that will provide a 5mpg increase on a stock Geo Metro. He states that he has a background in building engines for airplanes, whereas he's adapted to cars for the added efficiency.

You can find this on Youtube under, "Red 1993 Geo Metro" To be clear, I'm not yet ready to invest.

Another point that you might find interesting is that he's against the XFI motor. He states in his Youtube video that it was designed to be as he put it, "De-tuned" so that it could acheive the higher MPG. If EcoModder would let me, I'd post the video for you.

Well the xfi motors still have quite a following regardless if they are considered "de-tuned".

That's true. I was just mentioning what Geo Jeff had said.

As a true car nut I can speak to his engine building philosophy (after watching about an hour or two of his videos). Power equals efficiency. After looking through the pages of poorly spelled and worded web pages I wouldn't want him to correct my kid's homework, but I would probably have him build a metro motor for me. He seems to have done his homework regarding compression and cam selection which would both improve power and efficiency.

I'm not sure the new offering of a redesigned block would fully pay for itself (for an additional $400), but the porting and rebuilding services seem to be very fairly priced.
