Well I talked to my girlfriend and my suspicions were indeed confirmed. She like the FJ Cruiser because it looks masculine.
I tried to ask about actual cars that she would like.
Cars such as the new Mustang seem to peek her interest.
The Prius ? Nope.
So I guess what I need to find is a Prius with a body kit that includes flared fenders and a big mean looking grille.
As far as the color, she admits she doesn't really like yellow, but wants it for " safety ".

The base 2011 / 2012 Ford Mustang with the V6 is a beast of a car and not bad on the gas.
Take a look at this and tell me what you think.
2011 V6 Ford Mustang Beats EPA Rating At Bristol Track | Auto in the News
They got over 40 mpg ( I don't want to blow the punch line on how far over they did! )

I know, I know. Still, if the girlfriend isn't a leadfoot, even 31 mpg rated with the potential to do more is not bad for a more "masculine" auto.

How about Tesla? Even it is not very cheap, it would save a lot of running costs, also it is faster than most cars on road, actually it might be bit too fast.

The V6 Mustang would be a decent compromise.

The new V6, the old one is a boat anchor that had no place in a Mustang.
Sometimes, economics just simply have little place in a buyer's mind. I don't discredit anyone for it, free choice for all. My only gripe is if they complain about it...
But hey, that's why my toy gets >10mpg and my current DD gets ~20. I'll pay the price for fuel for the fun I want.
