Just a quick search came up with this, while i haven't read through everything, it gives an idea for others what dimples do, to the affect or result of how much drag reduction, size, number of dimples, depth, etc. would have on vehicles is still in the air much like it is for golf balls. The overall effect to me I think, you would only need a certain length of dimples placed just before the widest point of a vehicle to have any positive result. the only reason balls have them everywhere is because there axis is ever changing.

Myth busters did an experiment with dimpling the surface of a car and discovered to their surprise an 11% reduction in fuel consumption.
