I looked in the Ecomodder Garage and I couldn't find a 1992 Metro that looked like a match. He's sighting one Ecomodder in his URL list :

How does the cam advance help? Why was it set "wrong?"

The advanced cam gear works wonders in these engines. I have a 10 degree gear and an economy cam combo in mine right now. My ignition timing is advanced to about 14 degrees now with this setup. Plenty of low end torque and more pulling power in higher gears.
