Greetings from central England

Greetings,

I've been a bit of a hyper miler for a while but never took it too seriously. That's about to change though...

I drive a Peugeot 107. For our American cousins that's an ultra compact hatchback. It's a 790kg 3 door car, with a 1 litre inline 3 cylinder petrol engine that develops a Tarmac melting 68 BHP. The engine thrives on revs and is great fun to thrash about, but driven carefully I can get it North of 60 imperial MPG, though around 55 is more usual.

My aim - 70 MPG, which it think is a realistic goal with minimal effort.

I've already fitted a shallow rubber air dam from a Renault which had given another 2 MPG, so some grille blocks and a vacuum gauge are my next projects.

Pics when I'm next on a real computer.

Cheers,

Rich

Roger that . 35 PSI all round, which is as much as she'll take before feeling odd in the corners.

One area of compromise is the tyres. It rains here as hard as the sun shines in Texas, so in the interests of safety I've gone for wet weather tyres. on the plus side I went for good quality ones and according to the book they're not that far behind the Eco rubber.

Welcome to the site.

The 107 looks like a nice small car. 70mpg (Imp) is 58 mpg US. That shouldn't be horribly hard to achieve unless you do tons of highway driving.

That's the one, although mine is a slightly later version. In a big chap at 6'3" and 246lbs but fit in just fine. The cabin is quite large and they feel like a proper car to drive.

Tyres are 155/65 r 14.
