Grill Block (upper or lower, full or partial?)
I have read here about people doing grill blocks and I would like to follow suit. I know that I will probably have to do a partial block to allow for cooling.
My question is which grill should be the partial and which should be the full block, the top grill or bottom grill? Or should I do partials on both, but keep each less open then 1 partial and 1 full (e.g. both at 75% block, rather than 1 at 100% and 1 at 50%)?
I have seen people keep the left or right side open, but I am thinking about keeping the middle open in hopes of better airflow right at the radiator, making it possible to block just a little bit more.

What kind of car? Did you get the Focus?
Seems like the general consensus around here is to completely block the upper grille & leave the partial opening, if any, in the lower.
With my Swift, I've got almost the entire grille completely blocked & haven't seen any heating problems. Must watch it close as the weather warms up, though. The ScanGauge is great for this - continuous digital readout of water temperature along with your choice of 3 other readouts.

I have a 2001 Toyota Corolla. I definitely want a scanguage, just waiting for the right time (e.g. paycheck! ), especially for keeping an eye on the temps. Thanks for your help!

An Ultragauge may be more cost effective fer you...at 1/3rd the price of the Scangauge II.

Other than the price difference, is there any benefit to either one (i.e. different measurements, accuracy, etc.)? I know a lot of people have one or the other, but I have never read anybody give a good reason why they went with the one they did.

I'd rather get an adjustable grille block, allowing to cover most of the grille when possible while also able to avoid some overheating, but only partial because of the intake.

I purchased the SGII first and then got the UG afterwards. The only thing the SGII can do (fer some vehicles) is to put in custom PIDs to display things like the factory transmission temps which the UG doesn't allow you to input custom PIDs at all. I do prefer the UG over the SGII because of the number of pages and the amount of data one can see...up to 56 data displays.

I defintely plan on an adjustable (in fact I am reading Weather's AGB build thread right now!). As this is my first mod (other then my driving style) I just want to try it and I can use the knowledge gained when I do the adjustable.
But going back to my original question, should I do the full on top and the adjustable on the bottom?

You will have to try different ways to find out what's gonna work fer yer setup. I went with an adjustable grill block initially but had to go with a static setup as that's what my skill set determined.

Ok I will get the UG instead and see how I like it... I just know I want (and need) either one of them! It will be helpful to have a less expensive one anyway since I just started working for the first time in 10 months (ugghhh!) a couple of weeks ago. Saving money is the name of the game right now!
