Not very useful when most new vehicles use either 5W-30 or 0W-30 oils.

Oh how short sighted.

I think most of the people here run cars 10+yrs older.

Even people with older cars should use 0w-30, there is no downside to oil that thickens less when it gets colder.

I don't collect discs and cannot be bothered to get up from the couch, find a movie I want to play, and then insert it into some machine connected to the TV.

All of my content is stored on a Plex server which consumes somewhere between 6-10 watts. I also have Netflix and Amazon Prime in addition to HD over the air TV.

I bought a Xiaomi 4k (Video) quad for about $320, and a spare battery for $40. Also got the Xiaomi fitness band for my Mom for $15. I'm quickly growing fond of the company that doesn't make the best products, but gets 90% of the way there and costs 1/3 the price.

I'll stick with books, which in addition to consuming zero watts, are a carbon sink :-)

Another thing I refuse to own in physical form. After moving to the 3rd floor of an apartment, I'm happy to not own an extensive collection. I now prefer to read on a Kindle, which is as easy on the eye as a book, and works in the dark while consuming practically no electricity. It keeps my spot in the book, has a dictionary for the many words I don't know, and essentially stores an unlimited amount.

Beware the fire hazard.

I still retain the books that informed my thinking over the years, but I don't have bookcases to display them in. Let alone locking bookcases like lawyers have. I lost a volume one, number one Life magazine from an unlocked bookcase.

Back then it was months or years between the 'black swan' events. Now its like this just this morning:
sciencealert.com: Research Finds It Might Not Be Consciousness That Drives The Human Mind

phys.org:Project Lyra, a mission to chase down that interstellar asteroid

computerweekly.com:The legal quagmire of creativity in artificial intelligence
Trivia bonus:
wikipedia:Oregon House, California
