harvest season
Well the garden is all wrapped up for the year and the election is over. I went out this morning and collected about a dozen coroplast election signs, mostly 3ft x 4ft ones. I helped clean up some of the other mess.
Anyone else help with the recycling harvest of coroplast?

I want to, although I am not eager to try to fit them in my Civic, and I still have most of one from two years ago.
Well, I have all of the pieces...
I do not know about anywhere else, but:
Quote:
It is a class 2 misdemeanor for any person to knowingly remove, alter, deface or cover any political sign of any candidate for public office or knowingly remove, alter or deface any political mailers, handouts, flyers or other printed materials of a candidate that are delivered by hand to a residence for the period commencing forty-five days before a primary election and ending seven days after the general election.

ARS 16-1019. Political signs; printed materials; tampering; classification
If I pick up more, I will put them in our shed, along with what is left of my first one. I may end up doing that by foot, though. Not much of a getaway... :P

I went out and got 20 or so 18"x24" last night. I would have gotten 8 more but just as I got out of my car to have at them, alas, there was a cop. So I just popped my hood until he drove by and then got back in my car and drove away.
If after a week I see any of the big ones, I'm going to have at them, and make a boat tail for the insight.

How firmly attached are those signs? Apparently, my sign had been attached to metal stakes with thick wire. It was just lying on the side of the road when I found it, but I did not enjoy untwisting the wire.

My previous quote was ARS 16-1019. Political signs; printed materials; tampering; classification, but when I hyperlinked it, it was not given a useful title. I revised it.
Tempe seems to directly quote that: City of Tempe Political Sign Information

careful!
A warning: if you're documenting coroplast aero projects using signs obtained without permission of the candidate... don't show the candidate's name/info in your photos!
Ecomodder admins were once contacted by police on exactly that matter. The candidate had suffered sign pilferage, and lo and behold somehow found a photo of one of theirs stuck to a car in a build thread here in the forum!
---
And to answer the question: yes, I plan to take part in the harvest.
My local sign shop has a junk sign pile out back, and I noticed a lot more coroplast in it just today. I plan to ask if it's OK to help myself.

Are you guys legally obligated to help the cops?
