Have we been doing Solar wrong all along?
At 4:31 he asks for our guesses where the unaccounted bonus energy comes from. I've paused and speculate the answer is the vertical orientation stays cleaner of dust and snow and pollen and bird poo.
Now I shall un-pause and prove once again that everything I do is wrong.
Edit: I was, of course, wrong but I won't spoil it.

I'll guess temperature after he shot down all my prior assumptions.

The important part is -- did you get BBKing-rolled?
My guess didn't even make the list. Using it for fencing is an interesting additional use.
The vertical orientation reminds me of 2199 Heating And Cooling Without Power - Wax Motors And Paint

Lately I've been listening to arguments for/against peak cheap oil (concentrated sunlight). Doomberg suggests we're nowhere near it, and US fracking technology has not yet extended on a global scale. Natural gas is so abundant that I feel vindicated for not electrifying everything. My local utility is trying to make the cheap fuel as expensive as possible though, because their profits are a percentage of costs.
I should be one of those annoying citizens that shows up and exposes their corruption during public sessions.

It takes a lot of dirt to lose even 5% of output.
Dropping them vertical is going to lose up to half of output.
You can always count on matt ferrel to boost any dumb idea that comes his way.

On an overcast day the light is omnidirectional.

Nope it ain't. Seen shadows on such a day. Omni would preclude that.

Hmmm... I haven't gone into this deeply and ferreted out the actual numbers from the research institutes involved, but:
https://vertical.solar/energy-yield_new
Now I'm thinking:
What happens if you combine the solar reflective paint discussed elsewhere with Vertical Bifacial Solar Panels:
The 'roof' would still have a very good 'view' of space, plus some shade for a lot of the day
AND
Should improve the output from the solar panels..?
IIRC Solar actually uses the IR frequencies best radiated by this paint..?
ie: You would be turning some of the house or even car heat into electricity..?!

Bifacials want light from both sides.
