Have you ever made a company keep a promise?
I just had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad experience with U-Haul and wondered who else had problems with them. I found https://www.consumeraffairs.com/movers/uhaul.html. The first complaint mentioned their guarantee:
Quote:
$50 reservation guarantee
When you make a truck or trailer reservation, we guarantee to provide you with the equipment size, location, and pick up time as agreed.
Should you not receive the equipment size, location, and pick up time you agreed to, U-Haul will compensate you $50.

Yet...
https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-...guarantee-all/
It seems like they have been advertising this for at least nine years, but I do not remember seeing it until afterwards. People in that class action lawsuit claim they only made a reservation because of that guarantee.
I do not know what chance they have of convincing a judge of that.

Today, at 05:44 PM Redpoint local time, someone asked me to tell a story.
Long story short: Mom was right, but I regret nothing!
Boring short version: They allowed me to reserve a vehicle they never had at this location, charged me full price for a larger vehicle, which only had a quarter tank, and then charged me twice, which made me negative, so I returned the truck, and made a trip in my car, which is on empty. The site had problems, so it took half an hour to make a reservation. Their system had problems, so it took an hour and a half and phone calls to the headquarters in Las Vegas and Phoenix to make it happen.
The long version is the tale of an unsophisticated man caught up in a treacherous web of power, deceit and lust.
Plus dancing ninjas and promises of free homemade cookies for life.
