HCH1 Civic A123 Lithium Upgrade

Finally fitted 2 x 28s3p A123 OEM lithium 60ah modules into my HCH1 Civic instead of the puny nimh oem pack. I now have ~10kwh of capacity to play with using the manual IMA control documented on here.

A few bits to do yet to finish it off but getting there.

The write up is on IC forum.

Well, I can't watch youtube videos at work but I'm really glad someone did this. Even if it was 28s(0p) it would be a cool conversion, but 3p wow. This past summer I was looking to do the same thing (0P though) with an insight, but it didn't pan out (never bought the car).

Cost £2000 for the 2 x 28s3p 60ah A123 packs.

Other stuff bms, charger etc etc and thousands or hours building, testing, research who knows.

The Voltage fooling circuitry is analog and digital. The MCM compares the analog voltage from the oem battery voltage taps with the serial data coming from the IPU IGBT power device. You have to fool both if you want to use a higher voltage system like I am doing.

If you opt for a voltage comparable with the stock system then you don't need to fake lower voltages.

Sadly I don't have the time to answer lots of questions on different forums so all updates will appear on the Insight Central thread.
