Headlights flickering

So, I just remembered an issue I’ve been having with my car on and off... sometimes when driving at nights, the headlights flicker off for a brief moment(<0.5 sec) and then come back... of the Saturns I’ve driven, I’ve yet to see this issue... only thing I can think of is that I’ve had the hardest time keeping the DRLs/signals on the front working and it’s almost never actually the bulb, but the socket... also I was told I have an intermittent issue with my taillights (but not brake, signal, or reverse)... bad multifunction switch?

Bad switch, bad relay, bad ground...take your pick.

Relay tends to be the easier and cheaper to replace. Easier if you can get the issue to occur while you're parked so you can do some testing. Fiddle with the multifunction switch to see if you can cause the lights to cut out, and or tap the relay (with an assistant to watch the lights) to check for the same.

So I found my problem... a lid for a cooker fell under the trunk floor into the spare tire well, with the battery... I found it wedged between the positive terminal and the side of the spare tire well, with holes burned in it from electric arcing... I feel like a moron but am thankful the car hasn’t suffered any damage... or at least none that I could find

I could imagine having to junk the car for BCM failure or having to shell out $200 for another alternator or any other number of issues... I’m glad she still runs!

I could imagine the battery exploding and/or the car bursting into flames with you driving down the highway. Glad you are okay and no serious harm done.
