Subaru eCar

Hi,

I a happy new eCar owner (Subaru Rex conversion) and plan to refine things here and there.

The pb batteries are the first issue. I want to improve or replace the existing Zivan K2 charger, which doesn't yield the rated 78 V. I will buy new batteries, until I really know, how to maintain them optimally. And this opened up an complete chapter of charging...

I ended up with the purchase of an Atmel Xmega, which I want to program to get an "ideal" and flexible charger.

My main motivation is fun and independency, i.e. renewable energies...

Definitely something new. Subaru didn't sell the Rex in the US; I had to look it up in Wikipedia to learn it's a Kei car, made from 1972-92. Subaru Rex - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you haven't already been there, take a look at EcoModder's subforum "Fossil Fuel Free" which is basically electric vehicles. Fossil Fuel Free - Fuel Economy, Hypermiling, EcoModding News and Forum - EcoModder.com

Good luck with it, and welcome to EcoModder!

Subaru Rex is just a more modern Subaru 360, very similar in many ways, also the rex may have come over during the Bricklin era (same time as 360's here in the states) but under a different badge like a Subaru 450/500 or so.

I've often wondered if the 4cycle 360cc rex motor would drop right in the subaru.

Too bad there aren't any here to test
