One of the many reasons my garage door is 100% manual and locked from the inside.

Another reason to be glad that I'm wierd :-) I've never understood the attraction of those wireless key fobs, or indeed, of door locks that can be locked without a key - one of the reasons I've never locked my keys in the car. |

None of this is an issue if the device has no radio contact to the outside world, with the exception of high powered pulsed rf aimed at the device controller.

And what percentage of new cars have "no radio contact to the outside world"?

My 1993 Ford Festiva has manual everything! You aren't breaking or hacking my car with anything this side of an EMP-and i'm not really sure about that either...might lose my ancient radio/cassette I never use anyway...  |

My Prelude required me to lock the driver's door from the outside, so I have always done that. If the car does not automatically lock the other door(s), then I hold my keys in my hand when I use the power locks. My Forester has a remote, but it eats batteries in days.

Actually, even without radio connection a car may be hacked. I read a few years ago that car theives carry their own engine ECUs, which they quickly replace after popping the hood of the car they want to steal. The new ECU can go around any OEM anti-theft systems, including the immobilizer in the key ignition.

There's no quick switches with my car. ECU is inside the car and you have to remove most of the dash to get it accessible.
