Hey, electronics guys, I need a little help here

...I appreciate any help / advice you guys could give.
My wife asked me to build for her a simple counter. She wants a display to sit on the table beside her chair, and a switch that could be operated by foot. The counter only has to add 1 each time the switch is pressed, up to 99. It will also need a reset.
... After modifying a pedometer, I realized it only counts as long as the button is pressed frequently - walking speed.

Thanks in advance.

weird, I bought one a few years ago and there was a reset switch too.
In fact I just pulled it out and am looking at it and yes mine has a reset switch.

Just looked at the link I gave you and the instructions for that one shows a 'remove this red wire' where as on my kit that removed red wire, and the other red wire are shorted together for a few seconds to reset counter to '00'.

Wonder why the MPJA version doesn't use that function?

Edit: I found out why - it does not work! The wiring does not match the product. Both of the red wires do the same thing - AC power input.

However on that side of the board is C2, a 220uF cap. Short this out momentarily and the count goes back to '00'. Just tried it and it works.

Thank you so much. I just ordered 2.
Now if I could find the same thing that has audio for my friend who is losing her sight.

Thanks to you too Ryland - I could have made that work, and I'm far more comfortable working with mechanical things than electronics, but the larger display will work better for this application - especially for the lady losing her sight.
