I know this one as B1. But anyway, considering how so many different names were used for the earliest generations of the Passat around the world, sometimes it may become quite confusing. On a sidenote, reminds me of the times I used to see multimedia sets for different models (then modern) of the Passat around 2006 labelled with their Chinese names at shops in Brazil.

Yeah, a lot of different names can be somewhat confusing, but what I love about these cars is their quality. Take my Passat B4 for example, despite the fact that it's a pretty old car, it has a pretty advanced configuration: ABS, air conditioner, heated seats, airbags, it has practically everything you need.

One of my goals in the process of converting it to EV is to keep all car systems in working condition. Starting from the power steering, power-assisted brakes, air conditioner, and so on...

With an older-generation model, as their electronics are not so integrated, it's easier to get each one working properly.

I think that Passat is actually the pinnacle of the era of mechanical auto improvements. Then we followed the path of computerization. This car really holds the road well without any bells and whistles.
