I guess eventually I should move out to another forum area, but since I'm still new, figure I can get away with asking questions here. So Andrew, and anyone else who has done wheel skirts, I'm wondering if I can do some kind of external thing rather than an internal or flush skirt. I see the comments on here saying basically that nothing should have sharp edges. Would a fabric wheel skirt do it? What about attaching the piece of plastic on the outside of the car frame, over the wheel well - and making it removable, I don't know how to describe it, but sort of like a snap on/off, like you would line up the cover/skirt over some connectors (nuts/bolts?) and push towards the car, then pull down. And to remove, simply push up, and pop off. Am I making any sense?

Fabric would be difficult. It would have to be really tight to keep from flapping. Before I reinforced my skirts, I could hear them "oil-canning" once in a while. (The plastic was too thin, and in the heat of mid-summer too soft.)
Not impossible though - newtonsfirstlaw did rubber front skirts on his car.

start of car project
OK, I finally have some numbers! This does not represent a true average, basically I drove 85.1 miles, filled up 3.333 gallons, and got an MPG of 25.5325. I'm not (yet) into getting super quantitative about this, but I will continue to run an MPG calc every time I fill up.
So, I'm also attaching two pictures of my car, and the start of my idea for the wheel skirts. The cut-out is really really rough, it doesnt even cover the whole wheel well. As you can see, my general idea is to make a frisbee type covering. Haven't figured out yet how to attach it in an easy, convenient manner that allows it to also be removed easily.
Regulars, feel free to tell me where a better place to post this stuff is. Maybe I should start a new thread in the aeromods folder?
