Hi all,
I am new to ecomods. I was wondering could ye help me with my 1.9tdi vw b5.5 05 passat. i live in ireland and the price of diesel has gone up to 1.45euros/litre and increasing with the help of the government. Any ecomods will be most welcome. I have all ready changed my driving style so as to get the most of the car so now looking to modify the car. Also I was thinking of doing the power mod of wrapping the exhaust pipe in alumium foil as this is supposed to increase power and changing the exhaust muffler so as to have less back pressure.

Ok i have be on and off the site over the years but now i am back and i bring so new information for those who are interested in making their cars more aerodynamic. as the subject title says i came across a virtual wind tunnel software while studying. it is on autodesk site and call flow design. i have been using it for a couple weeks now and it is get for testing out all sorts of different ideas and i have several videos and photos for proof on my dropbox account. the great thing is as long as you say to autodesk that you are a student they give it to you for free. and there is also now software where you can upload pictures of an object and it will make a 3d model of it but i haven't tested it out yet. get back to me if you want to know more and how to share my dropbox account.

Welcome, Paasat05. You're definitely in the right place! And yes, wrapping the exhaust is a good thing to do in any case. If you get around to adding a bellypan to your car, you'll probably want to wrap it just to prevent trapping too much heat under the car.

Thanks for the info and I have fitted a very ifffyy bellypan to the car already the whole way down the exhaust and i am looking to but a bypass valve on to the exhaust so as to have a straight through pipe on highway and a muffled pipe on city roads
