I drive a 94 Ford Aspire. I bought it about 5 1/2 years ago (I knew gas was never going to get cheaper).

It gets between 38 and 43 mpg during the summer. The only mods are the $6 home depot ram air and plenty of Auto-Rx Engine Cleaner over the years (it's what I found made the largest improvement) and FP60 by Lube Control

I'm a window tinter, 3M certified paint protection film installer, and tshirt/vinyl decal and sign maker.

If your car is actually worth anything or if you care about it's appearance, pay a pro.

Plus, DIY films are horrible quality. While professionals have access to the good stuff. Not to mention now with the high performance ceramic films out there you can get nearly invisible films that stop over half the heat. Or medium shade films that stop up to 70% of heat. Try finding that at the store!

I know everyone on ecomodder has the DIY mentality, but things like window tinting are a trade skill. It took me about 100 cars to get good and then another year to be good on a consistent basis.

Do they make film that cuts the heat for the windshield yet? I spoke with a pro many years ago and he said that the technology was there and that it would be an extra safety measure having film on the windshield, but it was not legal at the time. Has anything changed?

Oh yeah, they have nearly invisible (70% to 80% light transmission films) that reject 35% to 55% of heat.

Sadly, I do not believe they are legal in any state. But that never stopped anybody before. LOL.
