Hi from Prattville, AL! Hyundai Accent

Hi all!

New member from central Alabama. I've been on Geometroforum for years, but have always focused on the "go fast" side of things.

I'm currently driving (and trying to improve my mileage) an auto 2015 Hyundai Accent. I'll start a proper thread for it here shortly.

Hope to be around a while!

Kyle

Welcome, Kyle!

With your GMF background ... and your username ... how come you went with the automatic in the Accent?

Do you still have a Metro? (I've still got 3.5 of them. Thinking about culling the herd.)

That's easy to answer!

We bought the Accent for my wife back in 2015. I work at the Hyundai Factory in Montgomery, so I get pretty big discounts on new cars. We picked this one up cheap and she can't drive a stick.

It was soley her car (and the car we used on trips) till last year, while I alternated between my Metro(s), Miata, truck, etc. Last October our first child was born, so I decided I wanted her in something bigger. I found her a Saab 9-7x suv. Since then, I've "inherited" the Accent as my daily. It works out perfectly for me because I get "preferred parking" for driving a Hyundai.

My username actually refers to a Chevy Lumina Z34.

As for Metros: I am down to 1 Metro and 2 Swift GTs. None are setup for fuel economy.

I had a very nice 00 Metro 16valve I had been using as my daily driver, but I stopped driving it once I got the Accent, so I sold it last week.

Ha - I've got a Miata too:

Well, make a garage entry and start a fuel log for that automatic! Slushbox, yes? I don't think Hyundai is doing DCT's or anything silly like that, right?

It's a 6spd regular auto. We do build a 7spd DCT for the Sonata ECO, Elantra ECO, and the Tuscon 1.6T.
