Was reminded of this today. I would love to revive a California to Arizona portion of this route, maybe from Pasadena, past Johshua Tree, to the Grand Canyon. Anway, I looked for and found a number of items I don't remember seeing before:

This one is great for narrating the route and bragging about Studebakers in 1952:


This one offers a bit more of the technical parameters and rules of the run (1954):


A book came out earlier this year:
The Mobilgas Economy Run: A History of the Long Distance Fuel Efficiency ... - Dave Hermanson - Google Books

And I found a .doc file online by a prof somewhere that describes the history, but I bet that has been seen before by people on this list.
