The standard business model nowadays seems to be Invent a car which does 100 mpg, brag about it, get investor money. Squander it like there is no tomorrow, and then file for bankruptcy.

Same goes for new battery technology. Remember those lead foam batteries a few years back? The company went under this year, after getting millions in government grants.

*sigh*

I nominate the Air Car. Anyone who passed high school physics should be able to see that the numbers don't add up.

I remember back in the 1970's, (the "real" gas shortage crisis?) someone actually devised and built a car that ran on chicken manure.

At least methane has much greater potential for providing real energy than a proposition that is merely 'hot air'.

Today there is neither any shortage of gas, nor any shortage of hot air: "blah, blah, blah". Gee, even animal emissions have more potential value than what emanates from our mouths.

It becomes one when you start claiming production will start in, errr, 2005 which then slips into 2006, 2008,2009, 2011 ...

Maybe it's not a car, but what about the hoax of running a car on water? Or magnets on the fuel line (which I'm currently testing--they'd do better on the fridge seems to be the verdict..)
