grill block infront or behind grill?

I did my first bit of modding this weekend. upper and lower grill blocks. wife was so impressed she made me remove the 'black stuff' immediately before she wanted to use the car. hahaha. it was done very neatly I just took some carbon look vinyl and stuck it over the grills. I used a hair dryer to smooth out some creases and shrink it to a tight fit. but she was not impressed.

the cars grills does not sit too deep so i'm wondering how much of the effect I will loose if I do the grill blocks behind the grill? the pic below show the facelift bumper of my car

It doesn't matter much at all.

Generally, just do what looks better, is easier and can be removed if need be (ie hot weather or towing). I've done it either way depending on the vehicle. My Renault has a deeply inset grill I've blocked externally, and want to one day extend forwards flush with the surrounding panels. Most cars don't have that issue though.

if i block the bottom grill from behind it will sit less than an inch back from where it was blocked in the front before. top grill will sit back 1 cm if that from the front position. i just loved the top grill block in front it looked so smooth flowing over the bonnet if you can imagine it in the pic.

Im I right thinking that as long as the space in front of the blocking part is sealed there should be an positive pressure inside the grill openings and air will flow over the rough grill as if it where flat?

Yes, the air doesn't really go anywhere, so it can't cause much trouble. It won't make a noticeable difference either way.
